Johnny Jump Up
We decided to get out Mitchell's "Johnny Jump Up" for him to try. For him, it was more like a "Johnny Just Hang There" or "Johnny Slightly Swaying Around" contraption. Haha, in the beginning he seemed more interested in putting his head down to stare at his feet. And after a while, he got bored and started to cry. But, we will keep practicing, so maybe next time Mitchell will start to have fun in his Johnny Jump Up, instead of viewing it as a torture device, haha. We do not have an extra big doorway in our house, so it is probably a good thing he was not bouncing all over the place (we do not want him to bounce into the door frame). But hopefully, in the future, we can pad the door frame and he will start to get a little more daring and start jumping around. We've been told it is a great exercise for babies; it helps strengthen their leg muscles to better prepare them to start walking. Although, the scientific parts of mine and Chris's brains were not too sure about that... because by lifting Mitchell up we are taking a lot of the weight off of his legs. And don't you get muscle dystrophy if your muscles are not strained at all, or have no weight to carry? (i.e. Like astronauts??). Ok ok, forget all the science talk... this post is about Mitchell:) Here is Mitchell swaying around, "enjoying" his Johnny Jump Up:
