Yesterday we decided to take a day trip to Jackson, WY. It is only a couple hours away and is a really neat, little town; and of course, beautifully positioned by the Teton Mountains. When driving to Jackson we went up and over the mountains through the Teton Pass. And when driving home we went in between the mountains, through the valley and followed the Snake River. Both were extremely beautiful drives. And thankfully the weather was great so we could make it (although on the way home there were several patches of ice and snow; we only slid a couple of times:)). Jackson is a gorgeous town. Everything is built and decorated in a log cabin/mountainous theme. And I mean everything... even the Kmart and Albertson's were giant log cabin-buildings. Of course there were plenty of ski resorts and the ski lifts were in full swing on the mountains. We did not go skiing, because of lack of equipment, money, knowledge/skill, and time. But, for anyone who likes to ski you should visit Jackson, WY. We did go on a sleigh ride though!! There is an Elk Refuge in Jackson where several thousands of Elk migrate to every winter. And the Visitor's Center of Jackson offers horse drawn sleigh rides into the refuge to get up close and personal with the Elk. It was awesome!! We also drove through the other side of the refuge and saw some Bighorn sheep. Of course we completed the day strolling through the town and doing some shopping. We can't wait to go back someday and see the town in the spring and summer.
