Salt Lake City

View from the center of Salt Lake City toward the mountains (there were beautiful views all around the city).
If you look closely you can see the big "U" in the mountain for the University of Utah.

Meemaw came to visit us this week (yeah!!) and we decided to explore the area a bit more and took a trip down to Salt Lake City for the weekend.  We had a really fun time exploring the city and taking in the gorgeous views.  We went to Temple Square and looked at the Latter Day Saint sites including: the tabernacle where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir meet and sing, the Salt Lake City Temple (gorgeous building!!), Joseph Smith Memorial building which had beautiful views from the top floor, and the Family History Center (which was interesting... I found out I was related to some royalty; King Henry I and II to be exact.  I will now expect people to refer to me as "Princess Sarah".  LOL, Just kidding...but you can if you want to:)).  We also went to the Natural History Museum which has one of the biggest collections of dinosaur bones in the world; it was very cool.  We visited City Creek which is Salt Lake's indoor/outdoor mall in the heart of the city.  Mitchell really enjoyed looking at all the creeks and fountains the outlet mall had to offer, and mommy really enjoyed shopping at all the stores:)  And of course, there was a deli offering authentic German food so we just had to check it out for Chris.  All in all, it was a great getaway and Mitchell did very well considering he hates his car seat; he actually did a majority of his crying/yelling on the way home, so he lasted two whole days without screaming.

In front of the Salt Lake City Temple... where my parents were sealed.

Meemaw and Mitchell on top of the new tabernacle.  Mitchell was transfixed
by some other tourists walking by.
Organ in the old tabernacle.  It was huge but the newer one is even bigger.
I just liked the look of this one with the wood surrounding the pipes.

Chris and Mitchell stretching out at the hotel.

Jesus Christ statue at the Visitor's Center.

Salt Lake City Temple... it took pioneers 40 years to complete this building in the 1800's.
It was worth it though, it is so beautiful.

Gorgeous view of mountains on the way home.
