Washington is such a beautiful state. We are really enjoying living here. One of our favorite things to do on the weekends is to just go for a drive and explore the gorgeous environment right by us. We've been wanting to visit Olympic National Park for a long time, and the first week in May we decided to finally pull the trigger. The park is huge and would take more than a day to explore, so for this weekend we decided to concentrate on Hurricane Ridge. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves for the beauty of this place (of course, even pictures don't do it justice). After exploring the mountains and playing in the snow, we worked our way down the mountain and enjoyed some trails along way, then we decided to drive to the beach for a quick visit before we headed home. I mean, come on... in ONE day we went to snow covered mountains, "hiked" through a lush forest (I use hike loosely, because we did have three kids with us. Ha!), and played at the beach. Only in Washington! Well, technically I guess you could do that from any west coast state. But, we call Washington home, so... it's the best. Lol!
We're in Olympic National Park, driving up a mountain.
Seriously!! Check out the views on this drive!
Snowball fight!! Check out that snowbank. (And in May... craziness).
Duncan thought the first snowball was fun.
But the second one, not so much.
Soaring birds in the open sky:)
Seriously, the view!! 😍
Enjoying our snow day.
💗💗💗
Fantastic view... handsome boys and snow topped mountains:)
What I said... "Smile."
What Mitchell heard... "Make goofy faces." Haha!
Hamming it up once again.
Awe, brotherly love... and 10 seconds later they were wrestling in the snow:)
Colin loved the views as well. Haha, ok, maybe he was mostly just curious about how the snow felt. Lol!
😍
Swisher boys are the cutest! ;)
We're on top of the world! (Well, on top of Olympic National Park anyway:)
Model pose.
Just a couple of snow bunnies. Haha!
Enjoying the wildlife on our way back down the mountain. This was one of about 20 deer that we saw.
It was such a sunny day for the Pacific Northwest, which made the views amazing, but also hard to pick up on camera. We would eventually make our way down to the beach there in this picture.
Posing on our "hike" down the mountain (aka, we pulled our car over and walked along a bike trail for a little while. Haha!).
Enjoying our stroll hike. ;)
Made it to the lookout point.
🌲🌄🌲
Wanderer.
When we arrived at the beach, apparently Mitchell decided to contemplate the meaning of life. Haha!
Sometimes they really love each other:)
Land ho!! Oh wait, they're already on land. Lol!
Next, it was time for their favorite pastime... throwing rocks into the water.
Cutest couple alert.
Duncan was struggling to stand on the rocks, so big brother offered a helping hand back. :)
Can you spot Canada in the distance?
He might have gotten just a little bit wet. Haha!
From snowy mountains top, to lush green forests, to the salty ocean... all in one day. Man, we love the Pacific Northwest!
