Gimme a High Five!!

I'm going to try and skip all of those cliche sayings like "I can't believe how fast time goes" and "It seems like just yesterday he was a little baby in my arms" (even though it's all true) when describing Mitchell's birthday.  He's five.  He is an adorable five year old now.  And boy, he doesn't mind letting you know it.  Haha!  He has been counting down the days until his birthday.  We decided to celebrate his birthday with just our family this year (it's probably one of the last times we'll be able to get away with it, so we decided to savor it).  We let him pick out his cake (a chocolate cake; his favorite), we kept with tradition and let him pick out five things he wanted from the dollar store (he picked out five different toy cars), we went bowling, and went to an arcade where he got to spend all of the tickets that we won, and then we enjoyed a movie night with popcorn and snacks at home.  He loved it.  And we tried to soak up every minute of it with our little man.  He's such a kind hearted kid, who loves to learn, explore, watch documentaries (he loves space and natural disasters... tornadoes, volcanoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, etc.  He's just so curious about it all.), he's competitive, emotional, loves to dance, and really is just a funny kid.  We are so blessed to be his mom and dad.  Happy birthday Mitchell!!

We let him pick where we ate for lunch... surprise, surprise, he chose McDonald's.  Lol!

This is one of the first times that Duncan has been big enough to climb to the top with Mitchell; they had a blast chasing each other around this thing.

Playing tag is exhausting work:)

Right down the middle.  (Pretend the ramp isn't there.  Haha!)

Coolest bowlng stance ever... He's got swagger:)

Showing little brother how it is done.

So, mom and dad MAY have forgotten to buy birthday candles.  We MAY have searched through a drawer and found three random candles.  We MAY have unsuccessfully tried to convince our five year old that having only three candles was actually good luck.  After he didn't fall for that, we MAY have rummaged through the rest of our house and found two emergency candles to add to the cake.  Hey, it satisfied him:)

He was so ecstatic over his birthday present... a shotgun "just like Daddy's."  Lol;)

It was the first thing he ran to the next morning so he could "keep practicing" and then "shoot as good as Daddy can."  Haha, Chris better start practicing because Mitchell thinks he's a crack shot.  :)

Thanking Meemaw for her sweet birthday wishes.

The kids had a blast bowling.  Haha, notice how EVERY time we had to stop Duncan from running down the bowling lane.  Lol!  I love their "happy" dances after they knock down some pins.  They are just the cutest:)  In the end, Mitchell got pretty good at throwing the ball by himself (and a couple of times it never even hit the bumpers).

He has the sweetest birthday wish EVER!!  I know it came true (it does everyday).

He loves his gift, which is "just like Daddy's."  Haha!  Just ignore the part where we have to remind him not to shoot people.  Lol!

Happy birthday Mitchell!!  We love you and your contagious joy!!
