St. Patrick's Day Fun! 🍀

We realize St. Patrick's Day isn't one of the biggest holidays of the year, but we like to celebrate it in style anyways.  Maybe it goes back to our days in Rolla; that town is obsessed with St. Patrick's Day.  Since then, it has had a special place in our hearts.  Haha, which is pretty funny coming from us since we don't drink in the slightest.  But we do have Irish heritage, believe in good luck, and love us some adorable leprechauns, so there you go:)

Mitchell got a big kick this year from pinching all of us who weren't wearing green... He just happened to be the only one who had green on his pajamas, and the rest of us weren't as lucky in the early hours of the morning.  But, we quickly dressed everyone in our green gear for the day so the pinching could stop.  Haha, but a small fight might have broken out after Duncan didn't understand the rules, and he kept trying to pinch Mitchell back, even though Mitchell was wearing green.  Mitchell was not going to stand for Duncan breaking the rules... so, cue the tears, whining, yelling, and pinching that turned into wrestling.  It didn't last too long before we got it all straightened out and we were ready to venture out for the day.

This year, we sent Mitchell on a scavenger hunt.  We went to a nearby town for an Irish meal (Well, I got an Irish meal; Chris got a German meal.), enjoyed a walk downtown for the St. Patrick's Day festivities, and then ran some errands.  And all the while, Mitchell was on the lookout for the items on his scavenger list.  He was really taking it seriously.  It was pretty funny, a couple of times we were chastised by Mitchell for "distracting" him (just talking to him in general) from his hunt.  He was having a blast with it.  At the end of the day, after he had found all of the items on his list, he left his completed list for the leprechaun to find.  Mitchell wasn't able to catch the leprechaun this year, but he did get some prizes for completing his scavenger hunt!  Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!

Pinching and wrestling can't keep this kid down.  After the "trauma" had quieted down, he was all smiles and proudly showing off his green.

Mitchell decided he was not going to be out-shown by his brother, so he also wanted to show off his green.  Haha, and for some reason this little model decided this would be his pose.  This kid cracks us up!

Excited to start his scavenger hunt!  He had to find:  someone NOT wearing green, gold coins/money, a green hat, potatoes, four leaf clover, a rainbow, a green drink, Ireland's flag, and a leprechaun.

We decided a nearby park was the best place to start our search.  Mitchell kept his eyes peeled for four-leaf clovers and any sneaky leprechauns.

We didn't see any leprechauns, but I did spot this cutie!

Senior pictures anyone?  Haha!

Goofball!

We went to a restaurant downtown that is a European grab-bag basically.  I got an Irish meal (cornbeef, cabbage, and potatoes) and Chris got a German meal.  They also had Norwegian dishes, Swedish, English, and Italian.  This homemade pretzel appetizer was a pretty good start!

Duncan went with his classic grilled cheese and he didn't waste anytime digging in, even double fisted it.  Haha!  This kid is a picky eater, but for the foods he does like (grilled cheese being one of them) he pretty much devours it all in 30 seconds.  Lol!

Yay!  So excited!  He was able to find everything on his scavenger hunt and a sneaky leprechaun left Mitchell a box of Lucky Charms (Duh!) and some Hot Wheels (each car was a different color of the rainbow).  Thank you leprechaun!  Although, fair warning, we weren't able to catch you this year, but we will definitely get you next year!  Happy St. Patrick's Day!
