Exploring Our Home

We had a really great weekend.  For my birthday, Chris was kind enough to get me a new camera; so we decided to spend the weekend exploring our home and taking pictures.  We got to enjoy all the beautiful scenery that the Pacific Northwest offers, spend quality time together as a family, and witness the return of the USS Nimitz (Which had been deployed for six months).  We really do live in one of the most beautiful areas, so it was great exploring it all weekend.

Living near open water is amazing... so the fact that we also live next to mountains is a great bonus.

The water was so still in the canal that it looked like glass.

I mean, it's hard to tell where real life ends and its reflection on the water begins.  So cool.

As it got darker, a heavy fog started to roll in.  It was very cool looking.

It some areas it almost completely blocked out the setting sun.  It made it look like we had reached the ends of the earth and there wasn't anything left.  Pictures don't do it justice; it was eerily beautiful.

Sometimes the sun found a way to peak through.  I love its reflection on the water:)

Welcome home!!  The next morning we went out to greet the returning sailors.  The USS Nimitz had been deployed for over 6 months and got home just in time for Christmas.  This was one of the first aircraft carriers that Chris got to work on last year as he started his training.  (Check out the little tugboats behind the ship, guiding it to dock).

It may not be as exciting as a returning aircraft carrier, but we do love our ferryboats around here.

Mitchell especially loves the ferries.

Checking out the cars getting off the ferry; it's his favorite part:)

A look at the harbor.

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine..."

"You make me happy when skies are gray."

USS Turner Joy.

We didn't tour the USS Turner Joy this day because it's not super stroller friendly.  Lol!

A bridge to nowhere.  Just kidding... it connects the community of Manette to downtown Bremerton.

He just loves to put his feet up:)

This was a great day spent together as a family, walking around downtown and the harbor.  I'm glad I had the opportunity to capture these sweet moments:)
