Bye Bye Mullet!

Well, we did it.  We gave Duncan his first hair cut.  He had such cute little curls around his ears that we hated to see go; but he also constantly had a rat's nest of knots on the back of his head and he was sporting a pretty nice mullet that just had to go since we are not currently living in the 80's.  Lol!  We avoided doing it for as long as we could because, well reason one, we were busy preparing for the birth of Colin and had other things on our minds, and reason two, because we knew it would be an unpleasant experience and we were putting it off for as long as we could.

This picture is really fuzzy, but I post it anyway because it is the only picture of Duncan smiling.  Poor kid did not know what was about to hit him.

Once the clippers started going, the smile quickly faded and the looks of worry and nervousness started to come out.  "What's happening?!!"

And cue the tears.  And screams.  And panic.  And the looks up to his parents of "How could you guys do this to me?!!"  It broke our hearts for him to sit there and cry while he thought we were torturing him.  But, it had to be done... and at this point we were just trying to get it over with as quickly as possible.

Here's a decent "after" photo of his hair cut.  Grandpa was there to cuddle with him and make him feel better after the traumatic event (he really didn't want anything to do with Chris or I afterwards... We're sorry!!).  It definitely makes him look older...*tear*.

I gave Mitchell his first hair cut, and Chris drew the short straw to cut Duncan's hair.  Duncan's hair is so silky and fine that it was hard for the clippers to pick it up to cut it.  After a while, we were just picking up chunks of his hair with our hands and then whacking it off with the clippers.  Hahaha... needless to say, it was not the most even of haircuts.  And the fact that Duncan would not sit still did not help.  Seriously, poor kid:)  Next time we will let the professionals cut his hair.
