Colin's Blessing

On May 7th, Chris gave his third (and last) baby boy a blessing.  We perform these blessings for infants in our church as a way of announcing the child's official name in this life, and blessing him with spiritual guidance throughout his life.  Chris has performed these blessings for all of our children, and my dad has also been apart of all three of our children's blessings (which is truly great since we have moved so far away).  Colin's blessing was a wonderful occasion, where he was blessed with so many great things:  That he would have good health throughout his life, be smart, have fun in his life, be a strength to his family and bring love and joy to our lives, that he will grow up strong like his brothers, be able to serve a mission for the Lord one day, be blessed to be married in a temple for time and all eternity, and have the great opportunity to enjoy a family of his own someday.  It was such a sweet blessing; you could really feel the love that our Heavenly Father has for Colin.  We were so glad that my parents were able to be here for this special moment in Colin's life (we wish all our family could have been here).

Getting dressed for his big day.  This is the same gown, cap, and booties that Chris wore when he was baptized as a baby (handmade by his grandmother).  It is also the same gown that Mitchell and Duncan wore during their blessings.  I just love what a special tradition it has become in our family:)

Chris always goes on and on about how bad he feels for our boys having to wear a dress (even though he wore this same "dress"), but it obviously didn't phase Colin... He slept through the whole ceremony:)

Proud Daddy with his baby:)  Normally, these baby blessings are done in a church on Sunday, in front of the whole congregation, when a baby is about one to two months old.  But, we elected to do Colin's blessing in our home since he was so young (one week old) and we didn't want to expose him more than we had too.  The reason we did the blessing so early was so my dad could be a part of it before he and my mom headed back home to Missouri.

Those who participated in the blessing:  Grandpa (my dad), Chris, and Bishop Holyoak.

So excited to hold his little brother on his special day!

So glad Grandma and Grandpa could be here for Colin's blessing.  Even though our family has lived all over and has been spread all over the place, they have managed to be at every single one of their grandchildren's blessings.

Even though we were super sleep deprived, we still managed a family photo with us both smiling.  Hahaha!

I love it when he just stares at Colin, soaking him in and just adoring every part of him.  What a great day this was!  We love you Colin!
