We once again were spoiled with another visit from Meemaw. And that is no exaggeration; we truly were spoiled... There were pancakes, homemade biscuits and pies, babysitting, cleaning, cooking, massages (Chris threw out his back and needed some nursing from his momma:), and taking care of the kiddos (which included plenty of diaper changes, chasing the kiddos around, and allowing me to sleep in:). Of course, in between all of that was a ton of reading books, doing puzzles, watching movies, and cuddles. And as a special treat during this visit, we went on a weekend getaway to the coast of Oregon! We took a quick trip to Cannon Beach and Astoria, Oregon. It was a lot of fun! But like every visit, it went by way too fast. In order to not leave out any pictures of our fun, I'll break her visit up into two different posts. So, here are SOME of the highlights from Meemaw's visit: (Her arrival and Cannon Beach)
The day after her arrival, the boys were so excited to wake up that morning and see Meemaw!
The boys kindly gave up their room so Meemaw could have the queen bed, and they all shared Colin's room. They absolutely loved it! They "fight" over who gets to sleep on the floor mattress (Spoiler: Mitchell always wins because we're not ready to let Duncan out of the crib... but he tries:).
Oregon!! We took a really quick, three night/two day, trip down to the coast of Oregon. And one of our first stops had to be for fish-n-chips. They really have some of the best fish-n-chips down there (even I like it and I'm not a seafood or fish person). One thing unique about it, is they use tuna. We have never really seen anyplace else use tuna for fish-n-chips until we visited Oregon (and not every place on the Oregon coast even does that... only a select few). It was delicious!
Hello Pacific Ocean!
So, the water was FREEZING! But, guess who didn't care... this little man. I seriously think he would have dove in if we would have let him. We had to stop him at one point because he was almost waist deep in the water. He really didn't care how cold the water was, he was having a blast!
This was Duncan's first time running free at the beach. Last time we were at the Pacific Ocean was in San Diego, and he was just a baby then:) He was grinning from ear to ear the whole time.
Poor Meemaw was our designated "Chase After Duncan" person. Lol! And let me tell ya, that kid was in heaven running around so she had quite the job. I did take over for a little bit after I was done holding Colin, but she definitely got her workout done this day:)
Duncan did not seem to be bothered by the freezing water either:)
This would have been the perfect picture if Mitchell would have kept his eyes open. He was complaining about the sun being too bright, but he was refusing to put any sunglasses on because he was pouting. He was mad that we made him stop running for 15 seconds to take this picture. Haha... the struggle is real people!
I love this picture. We went to the famous Cannon Beach in Oregon. And this is the famous Haystack Rock formation. Famous, because it's a unique formation on the beach. And because many scenes from the movie The Goonies were filmed on this beach. "There you are One-eyed Willy!"
I'm usually the one behind the camera (because I'm usually the only one with a camera), but here is proof I was on this trip as well. Haha, and the top of Colin's head is proof he was there also. This was his first visit to the Pacific.
Poor Duncan was too tired to walk back after running all the way down the beach. He literally went dead weight and just gave up walking. Lol! Hey, it was a lot for those little legs of his:)
After a fun day at the beach, we decided to spend the rest of our evening exploring the town of Cannon Beach and do a little shopping. Well, we got ice cream and then went shopping. Lol!
Duncan had fun joy-riding while the rest of us shopped.
Colin did really well for the day; very minimal fussing. Of course, he always had his two middle fingers to suck on for comfort. Lol!
These two hardly ever fall asleep in the car. So, you know we had a very fun but also very exhausting day. Hey, vacationing is hard work sometimes (especially with three young ones).
This was Duncan's first time walking at a sandy beach, and he wasn't quite sure what to make of it at first. Haha, there's this cute moment where he falls and he hesitates putting his hands down... I don't think he knew if he could or not:) But, it didn't take him long before he was running all over this beach.
Duncan's first time in the Pacific Ocean. Haha, and apparently, he couldn't get enough of it because he tried to run back to it multiple times. Seriously, crazy kids... it was FREEZING!
what forever memories we made...and yes the water was freezing. Meemaw loved the vacay within the vacay.
