Wow! Here comes a very cliche, but also very true, statement that every mother makes at some point: I can't believe how fast our little guy is growing up! His actual birthday was on December 17, but we were stuck in our car all that day, driving back to Washington from San Diego. Poor guy was stuck in a car seat all day on his birthday:( But we made it up to him and celebrated him all the next day with a little party. And it's not like he's suffered from a boring first year of life. Duncan has had quite an exciting year. He moved twice (first to Washington, then to California), visited family in Missouri twice (so, if you're keeping score, that means he has been to five different states already in his first year on this earth, craziness!), he has flown in a airplane multiple times, been on a boat several times, ridden on a train, seen the Pacific Ocean, and been to several theme parks including Sea World and Silver Dollar City. I really don't know if he can ever top his first year. Lol! Too bad he won't remember any of it:)
Duncan is the epitome of a happy baby. He smiles all the time, loves to laugh and play, and very rarely has a crabby moment (Except when he's hungry:). We did have a rough few days there for a while after Thanksgiving, when I had to wean him and get him switched to a bottle; but those days were probably the most he has cried in his life. He sleeps like a champ, has seven teeth that have grown in and several more on their way, he doesn't like pacifiers but he loves sucking on his fingers (usually his two middle fingers), he has a fantastic love/hate relationship with his brother who is constantly challenging Duncan for toys and attention (I figure this will be a life long struggle for them, haha!), he says "Mama" and "Dada" and "Ba-ba" (bottle), and he loves most savory foods but has yet to develop any sort of sweet tooth (he doesn't even like applesauce or any other sweet fruit). We are so thankful he is in our family. He brings smiles to our faces daily! Happy birthday sweet baby boy, we love you!
I can't help but show-off a couple of pictures from when Duncan was just a little newborn. He was such a precious little baby, and he still is:) Wow, what a year it has been! He has grown so much!
Fast forward one year! And in true Duncan fashion, he prefers eating the plate and left his cake on the floor. Lol!
He did eventually try some cake. He didn't hate it, but he didn't go back for seconds either:)
He has such a contagious smile!
Until you make him actually try on the shoes, then it's all tears. Lol! Hey, it's a lot of pressure for him to have to fill his dad's shoes. So, cut him some slack:)
Happy first birthday sweet Duncan!!
Duncan's 1st Year Stats:
Weight: 23 lbs. 1 oz. (75th percentile)
Height: 31 inches (90th percentile)
Now for the fun stuff... We had a little party for Duncan right after we got home to Washington.
And we had another little party for him when we went to Missouri. Meemaw was so sweet and had a little Super-hero party planned for him complete with his very own Super-hero cake. She even went all out and made cupcakes for everyone to share. We can't thank her enough for making his birthday so special (Especially since his birthday lands right before Christmas, and it's hard around a big holiday to give him the individual attention he deserves for his birthday). Haha, but he wasn't too sure about all the sugar on this cake either.
This is his very first birthday party, awe:) And you get to see just how much he doesn't have a sweet tooth. Lol!
Here's his party in Missouri. And once again, he's not that interested in the cake. Haha, don't worry boy, I'm sure you'll develop your sweet tooth someday. I mean, you are a Swisher after all:)
