Meemaw's Cali Visit!

Ugh, I'm so far behind on blogging.  Sorry.  We're just too busy living life here in Southern Cali:)  And our really fun lives included a great visit from Meemaw a couple of weeks ago!  We are so glad she came out to see us.  But no one was more excited than Mitchell.  Poor Meemaw, he basically makes her his slave when she's here; he won't let anyone else help him when she's here.  If we even tried to get him something to drink, eat, get him dressed, put him in his car seat, read him a book, help him go to the bathroom (Yay!  Mitchell is potty-trained now!), tuck him in bed at night, brush his teeth, etc. then he threw a fit and yelled, "NO!  Meemaw do it!"  Haha, Chris and I didn't mind too much having the weekend off (Thanks Meemaw!).

She was only here for a short visit, but we packed in a lot of fun stuff.  Of course, we spent a couple of days relaxing at the beach, tried some great Mexican food (that is a must when in Southern California), went to the San Diego Safari Park, walked the boardwalk at Mission Beach, and spent a fun evening at Belmont Park.  Like always, Meemaw's visit was too short, but we did really have a great time!  We're so glad she was able to come out and see us!

Meemaw didn't hesitate to have her morning coffee on our balcony, while enjoying the view and listening to the waves.

Yummy yummy Mexican food!

What could be better than building sand castles at the beach?!

Duncan didn't mind being spoiled by Meemaw either:)

"In the Jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight."  We had a really good time at the Safari Park (and tiring time... the hills you have to walk up in that place are no joke!).

We decided to take a break from walking the hills and take a tram ride around the safari to see the animals.

Riding past the rhinos and giraffes.

Checking out the elephants.  Mitchell, like always, was more impressed with the fence that he could climb on.  Lol!

The next day, we got a special treat.  Chris took us on a tour of part of the naval base, and we got to see this aircraft carrier where he works.  Well, this is as close to it as we were allowed to get, but it was still pretty cool to see where he goes to work every day.

Yum!  After our naval base tour, we treated ourselves to Hodad's!  Meemaw enjoyed her strawberry milkshake and Mitchell enjoyed bumming bites off of it too:)

Chris and I went with the chocolate milkshake (Delicious!).  And the burgers and onion rings did not disappoint either.  We found out about Hodad's from the show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Drives.  We like trying restaurants from this show when we can.  To see the episode that featured Hodad's, click HERE - it will make you wish you could try it too:)

Cloudy days don't stop us... we spent another fun day at the beach.

The sun did peak out a few times while we were building sand castles.  Well, correction, Chris and Meemaw were building sand castles while Mitchell had fun knocking down their sand castles.  Lol!

Tickets!  Meemaw was kind enough to give Mitchell a dollar.  He thought that was the greatest thing; he carried it around with him everywhere.  Well, the day we went to Belmont Park, Mitchell wanted to ride a little carnival car ride so he decided to spend his dollar on tickets for the ride.  He was so excited!

All ready to go on his very first carnival/fair ride!  Chris pointed out that Papaw would not approve of the car Mitchell picked (I guess the Nascar driver who drives this car is not one of Papaw's favorite).  Lol!  Have no fear Papaw, Mitchell wasn't playing Nascar favorites... he strictly liked the fact that this car was blue.  Lol!

Enjoying the sunset from the boardwalk on Mission Beach.

The sun had almost set on Meemaw's last night with us.  Thank you for coming out to see us Meemaw!

We could not stop laughing at Mitchell's face as his car whipped around the curve.  You could tell he wasn't expecting it to be that fast.  Lol!  But, he loved every minute of it!  He asked immediately if he could ride it again.  Haha, which also lead to his first lesson in not having unlimited dollars to buy unlimited tickets... he didn't like that lesson very much:)
