Memorial Weekend Family Visit

We had an incredible Memorial Weekend... Well, actually we celebrated all week!  For starters, we had a great visit from Meemaw and Uncle Justin.  Mitchell was in heaven with all the extra attention he was getting.  In fact, poor Meemaw and Uncle Justin, but Mitchell wanted them to do everything for him (including buckling his car seat and changing his diapers, Lol).  Chris and I tried to help him many times, but we were quickly reprimanded as he yelled, "No! Meemaw do it!"  Haha, thanks for the break Meemaw!!

We also took a ferry to Seattle for the day, went on a whale watching tour (more on this in another post), had another birthday party for Mitchell, and of course indulged in great food all week.  Plus, living in a Navy town is a fun place to be for Memorial Weekend; because of the kids and their napping schedules, we didn't get a chance to go check out any flag ceremonies or speeches that were happening, but we did get to hear the fireworks in celebration.  It really was a great week!!

And of course, when visiting our coastal town, getting some great seafood is a must!  We went all out, getting a taste of the fresh prawns, halibut, cod, salmon, and clam chowder.  Haha, and I enjoyed my chicken:)

Enjoying the cool breezes and beautiful water views.

Even Duncan enjoyed the views:)

Meemaw and Mitchell hanging out on the dock.

He was either right by Meemaw's side or Uncle Justin's.  And he loved reading the new books Meemaw brought him.  Haha, and he's also giving me his "Please mom, not another picture" stare.  Lol!

Did I mention how he was glued to Meemaw's side all week?

One day, we decided to venture into the big city. This is the pretty view from our ferry ride to Seattle.

Piroshky Piroshky is a must when visiting Seattle.  The least fun part about it was the long line to get a taste... check out the line to the left in this picture; and it wrapped around a couple of times.  But so worth it, yum!

Ahh, the yummy goodness that awaited me inside the Piroshky shop.  In order to taste all the delicious food, we decided to divide and conquer... while I was here, Meemaw went to Taxi Dog (they have some of the best hot dogs ever!), and Chris and Justin enjoyed some sausages, potatoes, and saurkraut from a German restaurant.  We were all full and happy:)

It may always be super crowded, but you can't visit Seattle and not go to Pike Place, the famous farmers market.

Trying to figure out our next move through the crowd.

I spy some crab for Meemaw:)

No matter how many hints I drop to Chris, he has yet to buy me any of the gorgeous flowers available at the market.  Maybe someday:)

The hills in Seattle are no joke!  We definitely worked off our lunch!

Next on the agenda was a visit to the Space Needle.

Ok, we didn't actually make it up the Space Needle.  We decided to skip it after looking at the 2 to 3 hour long line for tickets/elevator.  But, not all was lost... Mitchell did get to see Spiderman!  And it was perfect because Mitchell was actually wearing a Spiderman shirt (his jacket was covering it, but it's still cool).

City and water views.  We decided to drive back to the ferry, after walking those hills:)

After visiting Seattle, the next day we went on a whale watching tour.  I will do an entire post on this tour later, because there are too many amazing moments and pictures from the tour to include here.  But, here is a taste for you:)

We decided to have another birthday party for Mitchell so Meemaw and Uncle Justin could join in the celebration.  Haha, and I don't think Mitchell's feelings were hurt, doing it twice:)  Here he is, blowing out his candles.

Here is Mitchell in all his birthday glory!  He's playing with a toy truck he got, spreading out his beach toys that Uncle Justin got him, and trying to hold up three fingers because we asked him how hold he was.  Too cute:)

Some other fun moments from the week include Mr. Duncan getting dressed up all fancy.

Meemaw and her grandbabies!  So much joy in this picture:)

Meemaw made Mitchell's day by blowing bubbles with him!  This kid is bubble obsessed!

After bubbles, Mitchell's next favorite thing is balloons.  We decided to surprise him with these balloons for his birthday, which he discovered when he woke up from his nap.  He loved them!!

Round two of blowing out his candles.  I love his little expressions!  He's so happy and overwhelmed:)

Opening his presents.  Meemaw got him a beach towel, Uncle Justin some beach toys (they are really setting him up for our trip to the beach this summer), and we got him a backpack with coloring books and toys inside.  He loved it all!  Thank you everyone!

Another fun moment during the week was Duncan trying baby food for the first time.  Yummy sweet potatoes.  Haha, I love his shocked face!!  He didn't know what hit him:)  And jealous, big brother Mitchell just had to have a taste as well...  Haha, he quickly got over his jealousy!
