Birthday Surprise!!

Well, Chris is officially in his 30's... Can you believe it?!!  It's crazy to think we met when he was only 18.  And in the almost 12 years that I've known him, rarely have I successfully surprised him.  Usually, it's because I blow the surprise.  I'm just so excited that I can't hide it, and he reads the excitement all over my face, then he presses until I eventually cave and spill everything.  Well, not this year buddy!!  This year, Chris's mom and I pulled off an incredible surprise for his birthday (well, really it was all her idea; I just had to keep my mouth shut:).  Meemaw flew out here the day before his birthday and stayed with us for a whole week!!  And Chris had no idea that she was coming.  In fact, not many people did.  We thought it best to keep the people "in the know" at a minimum to avoid any accidental revelations about her trip.  I wish I took a picture of Chris's face when he saw his mom walk into the room... it was a combination of shock, confusion, and happiness:)  Haha, and it was perfect timing to help smooth things over from our chaotic morning:  We had to take Nora to an unplanned vet visit (don't worry, she's fine now), Chris spilled a drink all over his new truck and wasn't happy (more on the truck below), Mitchell was throwing tantrum after tantrum (don't you just love the terrible two's?!), and I was trying to think of a clever "excuse" to get me out of the house for 10 minutes to go pick up Meemaw at the airport.  In the end, Chris couldn't have been more happy and SURPRISED!!  What a great birthday week he had:

Surprise!!  Meemaw's here!!  It didn't take Mitchell long at all to become Meemaw's little sidekick.  Wherever she was, that's where he wanted to be also.  Haha, and just look at this picture... can you blame him?!  He knew where to go to get spoiled:)

We all took a fun weekend trip to Jackson, WY to celebrate Chris's birthday (more on this trip in another post).  Just check out this gorgeous view on our way to Jackson through the mountains!!

And of course, it wouldn't be a birthday week without a birthday cake.  Every year, Chris's mom let's Chris pick out any cake recipe he wants for his birthday, and she'll make it for him (Mitchell isn't the only one spoiled by her:).  Well, this year, Chris picked out an Oreo Cheesecake recipe and they made it together (even the homemade whipped cream!!).  It was delicious!!

If having your mom surprise you for a visit, taking a weekend trip to the beautiful Jackson Hole area, and having cakes and fantastic food galore, isn't enough to have the best birthday ever... then go ahead and add a new truck into the mix as well.  Long story short: Chris has been wanting a truck for a while (a.k.a. A vehicle he can finally fit into comfortably), since he is now taking the bus to work we no longer needed a commuter car, my brother badly needed a new car, so we sold our car to my brother and used the money to buy this truck.  The truck did cost slightly over what we sold our car for, but Chris wanted it so badly (and who can say "no" to that face?! Lol.), and since it was his birthday, we went ahead and got it.  Of course, Chris couldn't be more excited!!  Happy Birthday!!

We put poor Meemaw to work while she was here... both Mitchell and Chris got some massages (Chris mysteriously always has a neck cramp when his mom is visiting... lol).  Mitchell literally stayed in this position for 20 to 30 minutes while Meemaw rubbed his back and legs.  Haha, do you think he was enjoying himself just a little?!  Thank you Meemaw for the fantastic surprise!!  We love it when you come to visit (even when you don't give us massages, haha).
