On Saturday, April 6th, my mother-in-law (or Meemaw to be:) and Chris's Aunt Rita were sweet enough to throw me a baby shower in Springfield. It was such a fun time with friends and family, and I was touched by everyone who came out to help celebrate the soon arrival of our little boy.

There were several more family members who came but I did not get a picture of them: Aunt Pam, Cousin Brandy and Kaylie, Cousin Emily and Bryan and Tyler, and Brent (Aunt Rita's husband) was kind enough to take all the pictures, so he was the man behind the camera.
There was a ton of great food, including the themed treat of the party... moonpies!! You see, since Chris's mom is going to be "Meemaw," she of course is going to call her beloved grandson "Moonpie." This idea came from one of Chris and mine's favorite shows, "The Big Bang Theory." For those who haven't seen the show, it is about three physicists and one engineer (who they constantly make fun of because he only has his masters, not his doctorate like the rest of them) and their ditsy neighbor, Penny. It is filled with nerdy science, math, sci-fi, and comic book references, which is right up Chris's alley:) Here is a clip with the famous "moonpie" reference:
We also played a fun game at the shower where everyone had 2 minutes to write down as many baby names as possible, only using the letters from Chris's name and mine: Christopher David and Sarah Jane. The winner was Aunt Pam who came up with around 25 names!
And I can't thank everyone enough for all the of great gifts we received!! We got tons of onesies, baby toys, burp cloths, blankets (and the talent from this family is crazy!! We received five blankets which were homemade... which makes it so special:), diapers and wipes, accessories for car seats and diaper bags, a pack-in-play, car seat and stroller (thank you again Meemaw!!), so many personalized gifts like a onesie that says, "May the force be with you," but instead of the word "force" it has the math equation for it (again, right up Chris's nerdy, engineering alley:), an awesome camo outfit for the baby and a "Zombie Bait" onesie (courtesy of Aunt Vonnie and Uncle Kevin), a mother's necklace for me (amazing!!) and so much more!! Everyone was so generous and it was a great day to celebrate our little one. Thank you again to everyone who came and sent gifts!!

| Beautiful handmade quilt that Grandma Koch had made for the baby. It represents the kind of quilt her mother would have made if she were still with us. It's so special:) |
